About Me

I am 36 years old (37 now)(38 now)(49 now!), single, and want to become a mother. I had my ideal of marriage, house, baby, happiness. Well, life teaches you that nothing is certain and we all need to forge our own path. This is mine. UPDATE: and baby girl makes family :) And now baby boy makes bigger family!

2 Days pa.st IU.I .....#2

I'm just not feelin it. I feel like it didn't work.  I don't any aches/pains/symptoms, and I just can't seem to believe that something as big as this can be happening in my body w/out me knowing....I know some people don't have symptoms, all that stuff....but I think I would just 'know'.  I would be totally shocked if it did work. The thing is, I'm not pessimistic by nature...I think realistic is more like it.

I am already thinking about next cycle--to make sure I talk to the doc, make sure it is planned out w/ Rx's, etc.. probably going to go to injectables. Don't know what that looks like except from other blogs it seems there is a lot more monitoring. It's been kinda hard to make all of the appointments thus far work because I'm having to spend more time at our plant, (2 hour+ commute) and it is far away. My Dr. office totally other side of the city. But, this is my priority so I haven't let work get in way--and don't plan to in future.

2WW begins again

Doctor's office was slow again today too. I've decided I might as well block a 2 hour window whenever I have an appointment there.  The attached photo from today is very fitting for how it feels....tick tock. Tick tock.

This one went much better today in terms of not having the immediate cramping during procedure. The Dr. came in and I think he was done in 2 minutes or less. This is not an exaggeration--and fine by me. As I was was waiting for the 15 minutes to be up after the procedure, I found myself talking to my body. "C'mon, you can do this". I visualized the sperm making its way to the egg and fertilizing. I realize that wouldn't happen during Dr. appointment, but I supposed it could have from yesterday. I think it can only help putting my mental energy all in :)

Not sure I want to do a play by play every day post about my feelings and symptoms. It can REALLY make time slow down. However, during this 2ww I have the Dr. appointment Monday the 7th, so we can go over plans for next steps as needed. I expect by next weekend (by 7 DPIUI) I'll know how this one is going, one way or the other.  How I feel today? I do feel different than last time. My ovaries still 'hurt' a bit. Think from the procedure yesterday.

Tick tock!

I...U...I #2

This morning I started IUI#2 series. 9am today and 9am tomorrow. The physician assistant did this one and wow, did it hurt. It felt a lot like when they did the sonohysterogram, or hysterosonogram never remember which one--where they injected saline in uterus to see if things appear to be in order. They didn't do the full dye exam where they watch the dye to ensure your tubes are open, etc.. Thank goodness because I would bet that one is much worse.  My uterus cramped up pretty bad this morning...but it mostly went away not too long afterwards, so I'm okay.

I have to keep low expectations for this cycle because in my joy of having such a large follicle, I didn't focus on the fact that there is only ONE.  Also, my lining isn't as thick as they would like it to be, AND my sperm sample had just above the threshold for not using it. They will use above 5 million motility, and mine was 5.4. Really surprised because last sample was over 8. The nurse said I should check w/ the bank to see if they will give a refund, as some usually do if it's under 10.  Well, I didn't use those bigger banks, and my bank doesn't have a guarantee.

And they keep asking about my husband. I wish they would quit that.  The physician assistant popped in, smiled, and asked me about my husband because the sperm motility was lower. I said it was not my husband and was a donor. I realize I am unique, but certainly I am not the only one who isn't doing this w/ a husband. For real.

Kinda bummed about the lack of 'great' numbers....but, they physician assistant reminded me it only takes one egg, one sperm. Yes, it does.....and lots of good timing, luck, good egg, good motility, etc...

Another 2ww begins.......

My new BFF

Not my new best friend forever, my BIG FAT FOLLICLE!  I wanted to make up a new fertility acronym. My left ovary was a rock star and produced a 22mm follicle by this morning, and some smaller ones. The right one had a bunch of smaller ones.  They like to do the trigger shot if you have 1+ follicles over 20mm. I asked the question about waiting for the smaller ones to grow and then do shot, but the nurse said that once you have a big one, if it releases your lining works with it, and you throw your system "off" if more come after.
So, I take the trigger shot in about an hour, then have IUI#2 tomorrow at 9am, and saturday probably around 9am.  She did give me some medicine to take tonight to make my lining thicken up...they like to see it past 8. Whatever measurement they are using, and mine is at 6 something.
Oh yah, the other thing I asked the nurse was how do you know if there is an egg in the follicle....? That's what is supposed to happen, doesn't mean it does. In her experience she says 9 out of 10 times there is usually an egg. Realize that is not scientific data, but made me more hopeful considering I only have one follicle this time, instead of two like last time.

I also went over and saw the house tonight...great floor plan, good 'bones', and I could see myself living there. It will need inspections, etc..because there are a lot of internal cracks in walls, etc..assuming from foundation. Not worried. We'll get inspections, ask for reductions...see if deal works out. We are working to sign contract, should be done tonight. My realtor just called and said it's good we got offer in because there was someone planning to make a full price offer tomorrow morning.  Wow....my realtor said she's not surprised considering the location, size, and price.  So excited.  I have to say that the prospect of making money in the long run excites me too. It's what I did w/ my last house too....bought low, fixed up, and sold.
With real estate, though, not a done deal until closing day.

Sight Unseen

I just put in an offer on a house sight unseen. Who does that?!  I DO!! The thing is, it is on the same street my old house used to be on so I know the neighborhood well--lived there 6 years....and it is a GREAT deal. That's what's gotten me so excited.  The sellers didn't even have it on the market a day when my realtor found out about it this morning, called me, and said if I wanted it I better put in an offer.  I did, and she was right. She told me that when she called the realtor, they said that several people were calling about it already.  It is in original condition and needs some updating, but the bones of the house are really good.  I'm going to go inside of it tomorrow.  I have to say, this is a risky thing even for me to do, and I take risks.  Seriously though, worse case scenario I decide in the 10 day option period I don't want it, and I am only out 100 bucks. OR, I buy it, fix it up, and sell it for a profit--I don't have to live in it if I don't want to--and stay in my tiny apartment.  Sounds crazy when there are so many areas that are depressed, but where I live (this area in particular) has steadily increased and not seen a hit due to financial crisis.
I don't see a downside here.  I may have remorse tomorrow, but tonight is grand.

I have felt so different with this medication this month. My ovaries have activity, but it feels different. I don't have a constant "full" feeling--that comes and goes--and they hurt a bit more. I'm worried that cysts may be growing and then they'll have to cancel this cycle.  I'll know tomorrow morning at 7:40am when I have my follicular scan.  I have also decided that if I do get to move forward w/ an IUI, that in the second week of the 2WW I am going to schedule appt w/ Doctor. I want us to be prepared for what to do next if this doesn't work. Especially because I need to get medication via mail pharmacy, not local--and we know how that didn't work this month.  I want to test his thoughts on what next if I have 2 failed IUI's. I don't want to keep trying same thing over and over. I would expect we change protocol, or maybe shortly move to IVF. I am 36, not getting younger, and don't want to spend a lot of time. I'd rather spend more money doing something that has a higher success rate.  Even then, no guarantee.

Order Placed #2

Okay folks, I made my second bank purchase and it is on the way.  The Dr's office only wants you to order 2 vials at a time, which is kind of a bummer because I'd rather have the back-ups already there and save the shipping costs each month. But, hey, that's how they do it. Perhaps they are trying to stimulate positive thinking: "I won't need back up because this time it will work!".? Just maybe...
I have really had a headache from this medication. Today worse than other days. I can also tell something is happening w/ my ovaries...they are starting to feel 'full' again. If I could minus the headache and really bad back throbbing, I'd be doing a lot better.

I decided to start a more healthy eating program. I've lost my way w/ the types of food I am eating--chips, sweets, just junk that I don't normally eat.  I'm a stress eater so if I eat more, that's fine...but I'm not just eating more, it's WHAT I am eating more of that I'm struggling with.  I haven't wanted to cook and have been eating out a lot too. So Sunday I just decided it's time to shake it up. I am taking their challenge and I'll do it for 3 weeks. It's a place that makes fresh food in their kitchen--no preservatives, calorie controlled, and you get 3 meals and 2 snacks, pick it up twice a week. It is pricey, but what else do I spend money on (besides trying to have a baby)...nada.
Part of me has realized that I need to keep other priorities moving forward WHILE trying to have a baby. I found that I have been putting things on the back-burner (like focusing on eating right, etc..). I have to be realistic in that this could be a long journey, and my health/lowering my weight needs to remain a priority too. For some reason I was thinking I could only focus on one or the other....and just had the realization I can and should focus on both.

Hope my back, head, and ovaries feel better tomorrow.

Feelings

Not sure I am a fan of the new letrozle from the different manufacturer. I have more side effects than before...not very pleasant, and I have an overall feeling of Blah.  Today is strange and my mind is playing tricks on me. Several times I've felt like I am already in my two week wait and I just know it isn't working because I don't feel anything. Well of course I don't, I haven't had the IUI yet. It makes me wonder if my body 'knows' this next one will be a bust too?? Totally irrational, but today I just had a feeling like the next one isn't going to work.  However, just last week shortly I after my first IUI didn't work I was sitting on my couch when I got this feeling oh wow, the next one IS going to work. What the heck....is it, or not....?

I never really question my feelings, just go with it.  Sometimes I ask my 'gut' will this baby journey work out?  Is it this time? And see how I feel.  This one has been all over the map, depending on when I am thinking about it.  It's not often that I have such varying feelings--they are usually pretty strong, and right on.  This is a new experience for me, so I am trying my best to just let it be, and happen.....hard to do when you just want to know...and now.

Off and Running

YAY! already onto next cycle....it happened pretty quick. Basically if you are not pregnant, you get right back in the game...I had to get the letrozole from the local retail pharmacy and it is a different manufacturer. I have noticed some slight differences in side effects i.e. feel bloated and have had a headache-ish for last few days. I'm just going to HOPE that it reacts the same or better than last month and it grows my follicles. C'mon and grow already.

In reflecting over last month, the thing that has stood out for me is that this can be somewhat of an isolating experience. I realized I hadn't reached out to any of my friends here lately, have been doing things solo most weekends, and live inside my head with all that I am reading and researching on the Internet. I can't seem to get enough.  It goes back to my somewhat obsessiveness when I get onto something that excites me. I do it non-stop.  But, social isolation is not good for me either.  Part of it is I am preoccupied, the other part is I am feeling bloated, not always 100%, and need to go shopping in a big bad way.  I need some clothes that perk me up.....nothing seems to fit right, I am barely getting by with what I have. For casual and work. I rotate three shirts at the corporate office, and wear jeans to the plant w/ 2 shirts. I am not joking.  Shopping has not been fun in the past, I look at it more of a necessity. Even when I was in shape.

Positive note--A great thing about this time of year in the South is the weather. October is A-M-A-Z-ing. I have been outside riding my bike, walking, and just soaking in some sunshine. Let's go Vitamin D! Happy for at least a few more weeks of this....

BF.N

Talked to the Dr.'s office today and the nurse said I didn't need the blood test because I am already on CD 2, I am a BFN. So, tomorrow I am going to get my baseline ultrasound to start my next cycle IUI #2. We are using the same protocol i.e. letrozole (femara brand name) on CD 3-7, trigger shot, then IUI insem 2 times.  Since the medication did what it was supposed to do, i.e. made me produce many follicles, we'll do again.  This clearly isn't an exact science and timing, egg quality, etc.. play a lot into whether this is going to work.  I'm not feeling nervous about trying again, and my BFN was almost a non-event.  I think because I just didn't 'feel' it, I didn't have my hopes up much at all.  Maybe it's strange to be this okay, but if I am still in this place many months from now, my attitude may be different.

The thing that I am thankful for is that the medication did not affect my mood, hallelujah!!  I have felt pretty good throughout....let's keep it up.

11 Day pa.st IU.I

I took the home pregnancy test this morning.....not surprised to find out it was 'not pregnant'. I know there are still a few more days until the blood test, but I've just felt like this wasn't it.

Right after the IUI, I really didn't know how I was supposed to feel. At that point I was neutral, could go either way because of the strange, new cramping and twinging.  But, around 6DPIUI it started to feel more familiar, with the added symptoms of bloating and weepiness.  Once that happened, I just kind of knew it was time to think forward.

Sure it would have been great for this first one to work....but I've been pretty realistic this whole time and haven't gotten too emotionally attached.  IUI success is certainly a lot less than IVF. From what I understand your chances for it to work are the same each time.  So, a little luck and good timing might be the ticket next month.

No more daily posts!  I will still confirm for sure outcome at next Dr. visit.

10 Day pa.st IU.I

I've decided based on how I feel that this one is probably a no go.  In fact, I've been exchanging emails w/ the Dr.'s coordinator last few days to ensure I have my medication to start the next cycle. That's a longer, more frustrating story about dealing w/ that coordinator. Won't go into too much boring detail, but let's just she's not very proactive or responsive.

After not getting anywhere w/coordinator for last 2 days, I finally convinced the operator to get ANY nurse on the line.  I really wanted to talk to someone before the weekend hit--in case we needed to order meds for next round today....thankfully the nurse supervisor was available live. She agreed that we should still do my official blood test on Tuesday, but we will also include a baseline ultrasound so I can go right into the next cycle.  She said worst case I can just pick up my meds at the retail pharmacy rather than getting them mailed.  I am sure there is a cost difference, but if I am crunched, I'll do it. She did mention that if it is a BFN then I also will need to see the Dr. again, typically before starting meds for next cycle, so we'll see where that fits in.

I'm thinking if I hadn't pushed, I very well could have missed next round due to timing.

9 Day pa.st IU.I

Not having a strong feeling about this one....will wait and see but I am mentally preparing myself for the next one.

On a happier note, I couldn't resist this pic of my 20lb cat.

What.....you callin' me fat?!

8 Day pa.st IU.I

Bloating worse....a bit more emotional (cried at silly show last night).  I am thinking this is inching away from a BFP.

7 Day pa.st IU.I

Still having cramping in uterus...think it's from the progesterone. Nothing else to report.

Monday, October 10, 2011

6 Day pa.st IU.I

Not much to report...same feelings, but now feel bloated on top of all that. Actually right now it's twinging, but it's moved down a little further from ovaries, and more towards my uterus, but still on left side.  It's hard for me to imagine/believe there is something going on in my body. I still feel like I should just "feel/know" something.

I did purchase my first ever pregnancy test from the store. I bought the ones that say PREGNANT or NOT PREGNANT. Forget those crazy lines for me. I figure part of the "fun" is to test at home before you get the blood test.  So, Friday/Saturday will be Day 10, 11. I think that's when I read some people try it.
What DPIUI did anyone try, if at all?

P.S. Progesterone still sucks.

5 Day pa.st IU.I

I did some more researching on symptoms (I know, I know, I said I wasn't going to do that) and thought back over last 5 days. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, because I wouldn't have thought twice about my listing below if I hadn't read it online. I still don't really attribute it to anything since the following can all happen and you still have a BFN Big Fat Negative or it's from the progesterone.
  • blue veins in my breasts, and tenderness on only the sides
  • last Monday after the insemination on my way to work, I had a wave of nausea quickly come and go
  • my gums bled the other night.
  • my back has been especially sore and achy
  • sense of smell-today I was near the sandbox and was eating my lunch and HAD to move
  • acne on forehead
Kind of crazy how once you read this stuff you start thinking about whether they are in fact 'signs'. It can make you be extremely tuned in to any kind of thing your body does. Too much pressure. I'd rather be ignorant and just let it play out how it will.

My slight cramping in my uterus and twinges on both sides of ovaries seems to be better today.

4 Day pa.st IU.I

Today has been a rough day. To start, I took my 2 cats to the vet today. They haven't been to the vet since they were adopted 5 years ago. They are inside only cats and have been healthy minus a few hairball episodes. I learned that I am supposed to take them annually for their vaccinations, some things they can get from airborne. Who knew?  Well, my fraidy, tabby cat was actually fine and got his vaccinations, but the big fat boy had a complete nuclear meltdown.  It was so hard to watch them try to subdue him with a towel and these big gloves...he was wild, loud, and his "fight or flight" kicked in. The Vet came in, tried to just look at him, and my cat jumped out of their hold onto the floor. After that, the Vet basically said time to stop, my cat was not going to calm down and he couldn't examine him...needed to tranquilize with a pill first, then bring him in. Wow. Totally unexpected reaction from my baby...it was so hard to sit and watch, and feel helpless to calm him. Hard on mama! Not only that, when I put them both back in the carrier, they started fighting each other. Seriously 'boxing' w/ their paws and hissing. Oh boy was that stressful.  Once I got them home, I let them out of the cage and gave them time to decompress. As I am looking at them now, they are totally sacked out. What a day for them.
THEN, I had the second round of inspections for my potential home.  We had 4 different people come over today and check things out. So, I had to drive over there twice today....this took most of today. And the result is......I am NOT going to buy the house.  The asbestos tester went up there and said w/ almost 100% certainty it IS asbestos (he is sending to lab and will get results Monday), but the bigger problem is it is all over the attic. Apparently it was covering the old A/C duct work as insulation. When they installed the new duct work, the installer ripped off the asbestos pieces and left it laying all...over...the...attic.  The inspector told me this is bad because when the asbestos is disturbed, ripped...it goes airborne.  Now, he also does asbestos clean up, but couldn't give a 100% that it would all get taken out. It's impossible to give that guarantee. For those that may not know, this can cause mesothelioma, a cancer, that is AWFUL. My exboyfriend's father had it and died a very painful death.
I am just not willing to sacrifice my peace of mind to buy that house. I walked away.  Such a bummer, because I was really seeing myself living there, by the park, etc....and I am mostly bummed about having to continue this process and keep looking for a house. This is also expensive...all of these inspections were around $1,000 and my company will reimburse about $300 of that. Money just gone, but money totally well-spent.

Now I am back in my apartment and pretty mentally exhausted.  I knew I was stressed because I stopped and got a do-nut. A really big, amazing, and sugary do-nut. With milk.

In terms of how I am feeling today, pretty much same as yesterday. Still have those 'twinges' on each side, my uterus still doesn't like the progesterone, and has 'mild cramping' with them. I am thinking that if I am going to get 'symptoms', they will come next week about 7 days after the IUI.

Friday, October 7, 2011

3Day pa.st IU.I

I have been feeling some 'twinges' in both my right and left ovary or fallopian tube area (mostly on left, though). It kind of feels like cramps. I don't know how to best describe. I've also had the constant 'mild cramping' feeling in the central part of my uterus since day of insemination. It is made worse by the progesterone supplement, and also worse at night.  There is also a 'fullness' kind of feeling in whole area, which may be bloating due to progesterone. Think that's best description I can do for now.
I have decided that I should take the progesterone as prescribed (2X a day), and suck it up. If it is supposed to help thicken the lining so baby can attach, then yes, I should do it.

Today was the day of my home inspections for potential new home. Home is older, so as expected numerous things came up. However, some were concerning to the general inspector, so I am going to have round two of inspectors that specialize in certain areas tomorrow...A/C, roof, foundation, and asbestos tester.  It's been a little stressful since I had to scramble today to get all of the round two's scheduled for tomorrow!

2 Day pa.st IU.I

The only thing I feel is still some mild cramping. I actually think that is due to the progesterone supplements. My uterus doesn't like them much since most of it doesn't stay where it should.  I also want to opt for 1X a day, versus 2X a day.  Not sure if I'll do that, but I don't like how my uterus feels after them, and most of the day. Part of me still thinks if it did happen I would feel 'something'. The good news is, is that my mood has been pretty stable. I know some people say that the progesterone makes them moody/weepy. Maybe it will, considering I've only taken it a few days. Gonna hope it doesn't!

1 Day pa.st IU.I

First day past IUI.  And I honestly feel pretty normal, like nothing is happening in my body.  I don't have this 'aha! I must be pregnant' feeling, but I don't have a 'gut feel' that it didn't work.  It's not often that I feel so neutral on something. So, I take back my word about not researching and started looking up signs and symptoms....most of what I read show that typically the earliest symptoms show around 1 week. I'm at 1 day, a little early I'd say.  What I do still feel is some mild cramping, but that could be left over from just the procedure itself, or the progesterone (Endometrin) suppositories I now need to take 2X a day. That stuff is not pleasant.
I also looked up more details on conception, pregnancy, etc.. because I realized I honestly haven't remembered much about the steps. Kinda forgot what I learned in science class so long ago. Of course I knew sperm meets egg = baby. BUT, there is a lot more to it.
There's ovulation where you grow a follicle, it releases an egg, that egg develops into what's called corpus luteum, then it travels into fallopian tube where it can be fertilized for about 24 hours after ovulation. If fertilized, it remains in fallopian tube for about 3 days, then it(first called a zygote, then a blastocyst) needs to implant in uterus. Then months later a baby.  See what I mean?

So, where I could be in process is somewhere in the fallopian tube still.  I also decided to look more closely at other weblogs to see what other women felt.  Some absolutely nothing....

Will have to wait and see.  I truly have my sights set low, such that if a BFN (Big fat negative) shows up, I'll move on to the next.

IUI Day 2--now 2WW

Second insemination complete, now I am in the 2WW (2 week wait) until I can get the blood test to see if it worked.  It is scheduled for 8am October 18th. Today went pretty much like process yesterday--inclusive of the wait time. Sheesh. Actually, my main Dr. was so backed up that the Dr. who saw me this past Saturday did the procedure. Now that it is over I have to say I felt pretty tired today. I think I was running on adrenaline this weekend--w/ mental preparation for IUI plus the house buying. Now that I have nothing else to do but wait again, it has finally caught up to me.
I did ask the nurse if I should feel anything, like symptoms. She said probably not. There are women who feel nothing, are sure it didn't work, and get a positive blood test. I have avoided looking up symptoms online because I would drive myself crazy wondering if I have them....the one thing my nurse did say is your breasts tend to get tender/sensitive. So, of course I've been pushing on them to see if that is the case, and not really.
I honestly don't feel much different. Other than the cramping like yesterday, I don't have this inner voice saying anything, or physically feel anything.
I haven't decided if I am going to try any over the counter pregnancy tests. Maybe if I start to have some kind of symptoms of something, but otherwise I think it could just be disheartening.

IUI

Today was the day! I had my first IUI this morning around 11:45am.  I really wasn't sure what to expect, so got there a little early...highly unusual for me.  I had a call from my mortgage company for new home while I was in the waiting room,  so spent time doing that. They finally called me back and this is what greeted me:

Look familiar?!
Then I waited and waited and waited....and here is what I saw:
You got it....the ceiling while lying on the table

The nurse popped in and they showed me my vial and confirmed that it is what I ordered. Yes, thankfully. I had to sign paperwork saying that I received it. That was one of my biggest fears...I worried they would get that wrong. I don't know why, just did. But I saw the original small tube it was shipped in, pretty cool actually...so little.

However, I waited so long that the nurse had to come back in to take my sample back to the lab until the Dr. arrived.  Believe it or not I took a picture of that too, but figured I'd save you the details.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but the sample was really small in volume....and it was yellow. The nurse said they come in all colors and it depends on how they preserve it....sometimes it is blue, pink, white....interesting, huh?

FINALLY he came in....and it felt much like an annual exam. They run a catheter to your uterus and inseminate. WALA! Finished.  They had to try a second catheter on me, but he got it. It was done in less than 5 minutes.  Back in tomorrow at 9am.  The Dr. said that even though I did the trigger shot last night, he expects that I will ovulate tonight...but since there is no specific timing, they like to do two IUI's to catch it, better success he says...
I did ask him about likelihood of working and how many times people have to do this, he said a few. The success rate is low, but it does work. My expectations are low, and that if it does work I'll have a great surprise.

How I feel? Physically I felt just fine afterwards, but as the day has gone on I feel kind of crampy. He said that is very normal. Some women do, some don't.  Mentally, I feel pretty good too. One thing I am noticing w/ the process is time is soo-o-o-o-o-o slo-o-o-o-w. OMG! Even driving to the Dr.'s office seemed to take an eternity. I couldn't get to sleep last night, morning couldn't come soon enough...It's funny, when I first went back to take my blood pressure the nurse asked me if I was nervous. I really didn't feel that way. However, my blood pressure was 140/73. That's nervous on the inside.  My mind tends to reel a lot w/ spinning thoughts of wow, I am doing this, man my back hurts how can I do w/ a toddler, painting my new house even though I don't own it yet, having a big belly....lots of things. I have to just let my mind go and not worry about what I am thinking....just try to let it be. Hard to do.

Whew.....full day.

Offer accepted on house!

I am really excited. I got a call from my realtor today that the sellers accepted my offer! The reason they gave for accepting mine and not the other one is mine was a 'clean' offer....meaning I wasn't asking for closing costs, etc.. etc... They didn't even counter offer. Whatever their reason, I'll take it!! After my realtor called I went and drove by the house again and I really like it. My mind started spinning about color choices, new columns, etc.. etc.. One thing I keep thinking is, it just feels family....the location is perfect once a family starts growing.

This weekend has been C-R-A-Z-Y!!  I took my bike out today for first time in a long time just to enjoy the weather--finally cooler and drier here.  I still feel pretty good and happy about everything...don't feel stressed out, just excited.  There are a lot of things that need to happen now w/ house until I have officially bought it.

Tomorrow I have to get several inspectors lined up--the main inspector, a pipe inspector, a termite inspector, and possibly a foundation inspector. The house is pretty old, and usually will have some thing wrong w/ it. We already know it probably needs a roof and air conditioning. I also have to call mortgage company to get that going again. Not sure what interest rates are doing now, but when I checked a month ago, they were still really low.

Didn't expect ALL of this to happen this weekend, but it did. And the clock has been really slow today. I keep checking what time it is because I am doing my shot at 9:30pm. Hurry up already. I keep wondering if we are going to miss it....or if an egg will actually be released and timed w/ the inseminations.
Crossed fingers.

Update on House

This is my third post of the day....I don't expect this trend to continue, but so much happened today. I also put in an offer on a house!! My realtor and I went to look at this house for a second time. I love it. It needs work, but the location is great. We were there for about an hour and I had my mind made up that I would buy this house.

GUESS WHAT? Shortly after my realtor and I left the house, she called to say THERE WAS ANOTHER OFFER ALREADY! My stomach sank, and I was surprised considering this house has been on market for past 3 months. Apparently this past Thursday someone put in an offer and has been negotiating with the seller since.  They are not in option pending, therefore another offer can be considered. We decided to make a go of it, so I may know something more tomorrow.

Worst case scenario I don't get it....and something else will come along. It's just that I have been looking since April and this one for some reason just seems to fit what I need and it 'feels right'. It's a house that I see family written all over it, and I can see myself growing into it.

Update to the Ultrasound Update

I just got a call from my Dr's nurse... my real Dr.'s nurse. I guess plans have changed.  For one, I misunderstood the measurements, and the follicles were actually 18.5mm--apparently they take different measurements, then calculate. What I was hearing were the individual measurements. Who knew???
The nurse told me that they grow 1-2 mm/day so my Dr. didn't agree to wait until Monday just to do another ultrasound. He wants to go straight to trigger shot tomorrow night, then do insemination on Monday and Tuesday!!!!!!!

It is scheduled for Monday at 11:00am and Tuesday at 9:30am.  Monday is the kicker as it will almost be noon before I am finished....and the plant is at least an hour and 15 minutes away....I'll have to figure out how to rearrange everything. They didn't have anything earlier, I certainly checked.

The only bummer thing is the nurse asked me if my husband was coming for the donation and I said no, I have sperm from a bank that's already there.  Kind of kicks you in the gut, I guess. I am not surprised considering most people DO have husbands that are going through this with them. Oh well, not this girl. She also asked me if I had someone to help me do the shot....no on that too. I am going to try it myself. I am not too afraid of needles, so hopefully I can twist and turn to inject in right spot.

Ultrasound update

I went to the Dr.'s office this morning. I guess because it was Saturday I didn't expect there to be anyone there but me. I don't know why. Totally wrong, as there were many people waiting, even before I got there. I was listening in to the receptionist talk to the patients (I know, I know), and one was there for an IUI, and one was there for bloodwork...not sure about the others. No one was crying, so that was refreshing. I still waited awhile before the Dr. came out to get me. I thought that was strange that he came out....and then he also came in my room quick to turn on the ultrasound.  While I was waiting I overheard him call one of the nurses and ask her why she wasn't in. Uh oh. This Dr. is not the one I normally see, but it was fine because they had let me know ahead of time who was on call.  Once in the room, I didn't have to wait too long before the Dr. and a nurse came in.  He started measuring my insides and:

My lining: 5.5
Rt Ovary: Follicles--a 17mm, 13mm, and several less than 10mm follicles
Lt Ovary: Follicles--a 17mm, and several less than 10mm follicles.

They went so fast I tried to remember everything... maybe not perfect, but close. The good news is that the medication worked!!!  However the Dr. said that they like to see at least 2 follicles at 20mm before they ask the patient to do the trigger shot.

SO, I have to go back in 2 days, Monday, for another ultrasound.

Guess they just need to grow some more. I am thankful that the medication helped to grow follicles. Normally you only grow one per cycle, but the Letrozole has "pumped me up".  I kinda figured something was happening given the "pressure" kind of feeling I've been having. That has stayed and increased some, but not to the point of being uncomfortable.

The beat goes on......oh yah, I may put an offer in on a house today.  It is very charming, good location across from a park, on a corner lot, good price, big to grow into, zoned to best school in area.....downside is it needs work, quite a bit, most of the big yard is on the side and front of the house...backyard really tiny, and it adds another 5-10 minutes on my commute each way. One of my friends suggested I wait to see what happens w/ pregnancy to decide...that is a good point.  I probably wouldn't live that far up if I wasn't planning a family.  BUT, I do think it could be a good investment either way. I drove by it on my own and I like it more and more.  Last night I made a list of renovations I'd want to do. None are major construction, mostly cosmetic. I did this before in my last house here and financially was a great move.

I am not going to lie....I already went to Sherwin Williams today to pick out exterior paint and trim. Got the samples in my purse and going to check them out at our appointment tonight.....and I spent a lot of the afternoon driving around similar homes to see paint combinations. This is where my obsessive behavior comes in. I could spend the rest of today and tomorrow researching and checking out different house colors. I am telling myself to limit that for now....one step at a time.
